5 things to do before you apply for your next job

Are you a high achiever looking for a job or wanting to make a career change?

A recent conversation with a client inspired me to write this post about the steps you need to take in this job market, when you want a new job or different role.

5 things to do before applying:

  1. Define what job/role you want (title, industry and ideally companies). Know yourself, what drives you, what is rewarding to you.
  2. Identify what jobs/roles exist that match what you want. Research companies, jobs descriptions, relevant people.
  3. Identify what you bring to the table (technical and human skills, experience), what you still need to develop and fill the gap as best as you can with the resources you have.
  4. Position yourself through LinkedIn and CV. Build your brand.
  5. Network with relevant people online and offline. Approach people with short and specific messages.
  6. Apply for the job.

I can help you with number 1, 3, 4 and 5.
