From disconnected employee to purposeful solopreneur: the high achiever’s guide to starting their own thing

The high achievers I work with are those who feel disconnected from their current job, they feel frustrated because they believe they are wasting their skills, talents and abilities.

They feel bored and have a strong desire to do a different kind of work.

They want their work to align with their personal values and to have a meaningful impact.

Their creativity is stifled, and they feel undervalued or constrained because they have ideas that they can’t implement in their company.

They want to leave their job and move into a more meaningful, impactful role as a solopreneur.

If you resonate or identify with this high achiever, read on, ‘cause I have some ideas for you about how to leave that job and start the solopreneur journey.

Let’s start from the top…of your head!

What if your mindset worked consciously in your favour, so that you actually make this significant career change?

You as a high achiever are delivering high quality work, collaborating well with your team and colleagues from different departments, seeking to learn continuously. You experience a strong desire for autonomy and meaningful work. You start detaching from your current work more and more and that doesn’t sit right with you, because of your commitment to excellence.

But when you think about making the change from employee to solopreneur, stress kicks in and you become self-conscious that you don’t have an entrepreneurial mindset and skills.
You have a strong desire and drive for meaningful work, for contribution, for helping others.

This internal conflict is causing you to consume energy overthinking in your free time, after work, and at night.

If only you could stop overthinking and start finding ways to put your ideas into practice and do this meaningful work, it would be ok.

It’s natural to worry because of the uncertainty of solopreneurship, worry about having or being able to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully run a business, to feel confused about where to start, to feel anxious at the potential loss of a steady paycheck and the financial security that comes with a corporate job.

Having someone to talk to about your thoughts and worries can help you overcome them.
I can help you reframe your thinking from employee to entrepreneur, put order in your thoughts and start taking concrete action.

One thing that can help: is to start networking, attend entrepreneurial events, and ask business owners in your future industry about their business.

Another thing that can help is: talking about what you will do in your role as a solopreneur, about your identity as an employee and future identity as a solopreneur, about the employee and entrepreneur mindset, your resources, and the change from a security focused mindset to a more opportunity driven approach.
Talking about how to maintain self-discipline and motivation without the structure of a corporate environment can make a positive difference.

I can help you with all of this, and you will feel driven to make your desired career change.

You will be able to embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, rather than as threats.

You will define clear, actionable goals for the beginning stage of your business.

You will be better equipped to take calculated risks.

You will build resilience in the face of uncertainty, identify and overcome assumptions (such as fears of failure or doubts about your capabilities) that may be keeping you from taking action or making decisions.

You will learn to trust your judgement and take decisive action. You will be accountable for your goals through regular check-ins and reflection.

If it were just you having these thoughts and worries, then the world would not have businesses, mentors, or coaches. But the world has all of them.

I know you’re thinking a lot about having what it takes to become a solopreneur. However, there are things you can do to get rid of these problems. You can start by attending events, meeting other entrepreneurs and networking with them to find out how things are on the other side.

Or you can find out exactly what you want to contribute to the world in your solopreneurial role, create a plan to prepare for the change, shift from the employee mindset to the entrepreneur mindset by working with me.If you want my help, book a 30 minute session with me here.
