Change Takes Time: The Truth About Sustainable Growth and Lasting Success

Change takes time and effort. Let’s normalize that.

I recently came across some posts that advise content creators to be very specific and also to overinflate results.

Now, I’m all for being specific. That’s helpful.
But overinflating results? Not my thing.

We live in a time where things are expected to happen now. In a week. In 30 days max. The timeline we’re being sold is almost always dizzyingly short.

And listen, I get the desire for quick and fast, ‘cause I’m a high achiever.
Sure, you can compact the time to get to a result with the right instruments and help.

But let’s be real: sustainable change, meaningful growth and transformation don’t happen overnight.
They take time. And not just time, you also need intention, effort, reflection and adjustment.

Gaining new knowledge is one thing. Applying it until it becomes a skill? That takes months or years.

Making a real career or business change, mentally and practically, takes a few months, at least.

Growing into a new role, a new identity, a new way of working or living? That takes quite a while.

It’s not always a clean, linear path. It’s often messy and it can be tiring.
And sometimes the result doesn’t look exactly like the version you had in your head when you started.
But that doesn’t mean it’s not working.
You need time to process, to test things, to fail, to learn, to adjust.

So, let’s adjust our expectations to make them realistic and not put crazy pressure on ourselves and the trainer, coach, mentor, therapist.

Think about this:
When in your life did you make a big, meaningful change with the snap of your fingers?
