Mindset Coaching for Career Change

The golden handcuffs trap

You have the job, the good salary, the equity, the title your parents brag about at dinner parties.

So why does your job feel like something you dread?

When you scroll on LinkedIn, watching someone announce their next chapter you feel a jolt of envy, grief that you shove down thinking “I have no right to complain”, “I worked so hard to get here, how could I just change?”

The question needs to be “How long can I keep faking gratitude for a job that’s draining me?”

This is the golden handcuffs trap.

It’s the disorienting tension of being high-achieving enough to build a career that looks right and self-aware enough to know something about it is off. You’re confused about whether being used to the job, being capable and having a good salary is enough of a reason to stay in that role.

You try to override the nagging feeling with pros and cons lists, salary comparisons, with keeping yourself busy, thinking it will go away. It doesn’t.

The MAP 1:1 coaching program exists for this moment when the achievement, the guilt, and the questions about what matters to you create an internal conflict that can’t be ignored anymore.

It helps you be honest with yourself about what you want (separate from what you’re supposed to want, what looks impressive, or what would disappoint people if you changed).

You don’t need to feel guilty for wanting more meaning in your work and career.
