Letβs explore how coaching can be a game-changer in navigating challenges and turning them into possibilities.
My aim with these posts is to bring concrete examples of coaching topics and shed light on how coaching can help as a tool for personal and professional development.
A client came to coaching with an issue around comparing themselves to other colleagues who seemed more confident.
They experienced difficulty in feeling and acting confident when the topic of a conversation or meeting is vague, when there is uncertainty and when there are multiple participants in a call or discussion.
They didn’t know when to speak or intervene and that led to them speaking last and quickly at the end of the conversation, not being completely able to get their point across.
I helped them explore whatβs getting in the way and then figure out ways to gain more confidence.
The client discovered they could prepare before these meetings and defined what preparation means for them.
If the calls were organised by other people and there was no agenda, the client started asking for the information they needed in advance.
That enabled them to prepare and back their ideas up with facts.
If the client organised a meeting they gave people information about the topic, the agenda and what to think about or prepare beforehand.
This resulted in the client speaking their mind more often and gaining more confidence as they did so.
When it came to the team, this resulted in improved team calls, as they had more structure, clarity and team members built the habit of preparing for these meetings. That also meant more time for bonding and building relationships within the team.
