Let’s explore how coaching can be a game-changer in navigating challenges and turning them into possibilities.
My aim with these posts is to bring concrete examples of coaching topics and shed light on how coaching can help as a tool for personal and professional development.
A client came to coaching with a tendency to micromanage. They were asking team members for frequent updates, making changes to their work and hesitating to delegate tasks or responsibilities, believing that they cannot perform the tasks as well as the manager can.
That happened because the client had the expectation for direct reports to immediately act on the task they were given, because that’s how the client themselves works: they take fast action on tasks.
Throughout the coaching process, I helped the client see different perspectives and understand that people work in different ways, having different rhythms and speed of completing tasks.
This awareness led the client to delegate more and give direct reports more opportunities to learn by doing.
As a result, the client shared existing tasks and problems with the team, and the team members contributed with their ideas related to the solution. The client also asked the team more open-ended questions and listened more actively, which led to more trust between them and the team.
📱If you’re struggling with a tendency to micromanage and want to delegate more, working with me will get you the solution to your problem.
Send me a message and let’s work together to shift your mindset and get you the best out of your career.
